The Design Engineer at CNH Industrial America LLC in Burr Ridge, Illinois will design and develop 3D parts and components of a tractor (specifically heavy structural castings that function as vehicle backbones) in accordance with the CNH guidelines and processes. Duties of the position will include: serving as the company's technical expert on casting design; participating and supporting project leads in the design and development of AG tractor projects; modeling and detailing of casting component/assemblies drawings; leading design reviews with the engineering/manufacturing/purchasing teams during concept through release to share information and aid in sourcing and manufacturing; making recommendations to peers and direct manager based on sound engineering principles, practices and judgment; utilizing CAD, Pro-E, Teamcenter and relevant software to develop designs, layouts and drawings and managing engineering releases; bridging communications between engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and foundry using virtual design reviews as a forum; solving design problems and checking computations contributing to analytical designs and working directly with the design analysis group for finite element analysis; working with engineers developing drive train, engine install, front axels, loaders, electrical, hydraulic systems and will be the design engineer with primary responsibility for designing heavy castings for front frames; solving field tests or current product issues related to castings working with the test groups, material experts and suppliers. Incorporate safety standards and global product development processes into all aspects of design projects.
Education and Experience Requirements: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a directly related engineering field, plus a minimum of two years of 3D design engineering work experience as a heavy construction equipment mechanical design engineer. The two years of experience must include two years of experience with each of the following: (1) using CAD, ProE, and Teamcenter or similar software in 3D modeling designing heavy construction equipment; (2) design experience specifically designing large castings; (3) surface modeling experience required for designing complex casting components; (4) designing non-casting components; (5) drawing/detailing the 3D vehicle components; and (6) creating engineering drawings for agriculture or construction equipment. Must also have demonstrable GD&T skills; one year of experience in FEA; experience working with the product development life cycle process; and experience using engineering release software.
