The Display/Cluster Lead Systems Engineer at CNH Industrial America LLC in Burr Ridge, IL will design, develop and test displays and instrument clusters using microcontrollers (8, 16, and 32-bit) and CAN based protocol systems for industrial off-highway equipment. Research the state-of-the-art technologies, system implementations, and architectures to provide new and innovative HMI (Human Machine Interface) design concepts. Recommend future HMI systems based on market trends and cost of components. Create and review system specification for use by internal and external parties such as the software engineers, test engineers, manufacturing engineers and technical publications. Use Requirements Management (RM) tools including Polarion and Rational DOORS to capture system, product and software requirements. Identify commonality in requirements, drive standardization to reduce component and development costs, and ensure compliance with RTMx (Requirements Traceability Matrix) using requirements management tools. Use C, Embedded C, Assembly language and Model Based development (MBD) tools including Mathworks Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow and Freescale Code Warrior IDE to perform code reviews and debug software. Leverage software expertise in model based design to reduce development cycles, streamline defect resolution and enhance quality. Develop test plans, validation specifications, create test procedures, and perform test iterations on embedded systems using National Instruments (NI) TestStand. Guide and mentor interns and junior staff engineers in developing test procedures using National Instruments (NI) TestStand, and recommend best practices in end-to-end validation. Work with vehicular communication protocols including RS232, CAN and J1939 protocols. Create database files using Vector CANalyzer, P-CAN, and CANoe to record and analyze data. Provide expertise and knowledge of CAN (J1939), RS232, and LIN networks to guide design team. Review gate-level schematics, circuit design, and test PCB boards; Use lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters. Oversee validation procedures performed on test benches for cluster/display functionality. Use Configuration Management (CM) and issue tracking tools including Polarion and SVN. Manage issues, triage defects and align software testing/development plans with platform milestones using configuration management and issue tracking tools. Participate in design FMEAS. Contribute to vehicle and system/software DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis) sessions. Prepare systems engineering specifications and technical user manuals. Incorporate and encourage the Systems team to use engineering standards, methodologies and global product development processes in the daily work tasks. Oversee off-shore team dedicated to a vehicle platform to ensure timely delivery of projects. Maintain detailed work breakdown and schedule product plans, roadmaps, resources, timing and budget using Microsoft Project. Drive standardization by applying common systems approaches across all CNH Industrial's industrial off-highway equipment. Contribute to Functional Safety Analyses (conforming to Homologation/Directives/Liability Laws) based on 1SO15998 and 1SO13849 standards. Travel required: 10% of time.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering, and five years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience as a Systems or Display Systems Engineer-Industrial Off-Highway Equipment. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree and five years of experience, the employer will accept a Master's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering, and three years of experience as a Systems or Display Systems Engineer-Industrial Off-Highway Equipment. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and five years of experience or a Master's degree and three years of experience. As part of the experience being required, applicants must have had experience in/with: designing, developing and testing instrument clusters using microcontrollers and CAN based protocol systems for industrial off-highway equipment; creating and reviewing product and software requirements for industrial off-highway equipment using Requirements Management (RM) tools, including Polarion; Model Based Development (MBD) of software using Mathwork's Matlab and Stateflow; Automatic Code generation experience using Matlab Real-Time Workshop; software development using C, Embedded C, and Assembly language for industrial off-highway equipment; using software development tools, compilers and IDEs; developing test plans, creating test procedures, and performing testing iterations for industrial off-highway vehicle displays; 8, 16 and 32-bit microcontrollers; vehicular communication protocols, including RS232, CAN, LIN and J1939 protocols used for industrial off-highway equipment; analyzing and debugging data from industrial off-highway equipment using vehicular networks including Vector's CANalyzer, P-CAN and CANoe tools; hardware experience with gate-level schematics and soldering components; using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters; using Configuration Management (CM) and issue tracking tools, including Polarion and SVN; overseeing on-site and off-shore Systems and Software engineering development teams; scheduling product plans, estimates and work breakdown using Microsoft Project; Design FMEAs (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis); and preparing functional specification, test specification and technical vehicle operator's manuals.
