Lead development of complex control systems including driveline systems for agricultural and construction equipment with the intent of increasing machine productivity and efficiency while reducing overall machine cost. Estimate time, cost and schedule integration of electronic control system into vehicle builds from concept to production. Use model based design tools including Matlab, Simulink and Targetlink to automatically generate production code and perform dynamic simulation with plant model prior to machine integration. Evaluate these tools and processes to decrease development time and increase product quality. Lead Failure Modes Effects Analysis and participate in Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment to assure product safety goals are achieved. Conduct data analysis of machines utilizing Vector Canoe, Vector Canalyzer or calibration tools via CAN-J1939 to reduce machine warranty issues or to perform root cause analysis. Recommend development process improvements to reduce issues and decrease warranty costs. Review issues from the prototype machine builds and recommend changes to the development process to eliminate issues in future prototype machine builds. Work on strategies to standardize calibration procedures and development auto calibration algorithms in order to improve the control system calibration process. Travel required: 10 to 25% of time to company locations domestically and internationally.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electronics Engineering, and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience as an Engineer-Agricultural or Construction Equipment. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree and five years of experience, the employer will accept a Master's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electronics Engineering, and three (3) years of experience as an Engineer-Agricultural or Construction Equipment. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and five years of experience or a Master's degree and three years of experience. As part of the experience being required, applicants must have had: experience designing driveline electronic control system for agricultural or construction equipment; experience with the controls software development process for agricultural or construction equipment; experience working on Matlab programming and Simulink tools; experience in validating control system logic using software-in-loop and model-in-loop simulation methods utilizing virtual simulation tools including Matlab and Simulink; experience working with vehicle network protocols, including CAN-J1939; experience in analyzing vehicle data in order to improve existing control logic and in troubleshooting existing issues using vehicle network analysis tools, including Vector CANalyzer; experience with on-machine vehicle calibration or tuning using vehicle electronic control unit (ECU) software calibration tools, including dSpace ControlDesk; and experience with Failure Modes Effects Analysis and Hazard Analysis Risk Assessment.
